Our research

Exploring happiness is a research organisation with the goal of increasing happiness and wellbeing in society in a sustainable and equal way. Our research can be split into three groups: empirical analysis, policy analysis and literature reviews.

Our empirical analysis looks to contribute towards the wellbeing evidence base. Through this, we look to try to understand what drives wellbeing at both the individual and the population level. This analysis can help to inform our policy recommendations, which are typically focussed on ways in which which government’s can help boost their population’s wellbeing. Our policy analysis isn’t always driven by our empirical analysis though, we frequently use findings from the literature to help shape our recommendations. Our literature reviews aim to succinctly summarise the latest evidence on a given topic, both for educational purposes and to help us shape our research agenda.

In our research we try to be as inclusive as possible and we hope that you find it interesting and approachable. It comes in many different forms. All research articles include a video explaining what we have done and found. We also include a short article on the website which is summary of a longer, more technical article, for those that are interested in the detail. All feedback on our research is welcome - either based on the content of the article or ways to make our research more approachable for everyone.
